About me
Martin Tschiersky
Born on May 17th 1989 in Düsseldorf, Germany

Upon finishing high school (German: Gymnasium) in 2008 I studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Duisburg-Essen where I received my BSc. and MSc. degrees in 2012 and 2014, respectively.
After graduating from University, I participated in the programme “Language and Practical Experience in Japan” programme of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
During my 18-months stay in Japan, beginning in late 2014, I attended a Japanese language school for 10 months and conducted an 8-month internship at the Bosch Corporation, both located in Shibuya, Tokyo. In the course of that internship I got in contact with the topic of wearable assistive robotics which should become the basis for my PhD research.
After returning to Europe in early 2016 I consequently started my position as a PhD candidate at the University of Twente in Enschede, The Netherlands. There I began to conduct research on flexible mechanisms for upper-limb support.
Intermitted by another 4-months stay in Japan as a Research Fellow at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, I am now in the final stages of my PhD trajectory.
To that end, I have created this website in order to provide a single point of contact for all my research output, including high-resolution versions of the videos that accompany my papers as well as additional and previously unpublished works.
